Corporal Granahan
was born in Quincy,
attended St. Boniface Church, Snug Harbor
Grade School, and graduated
from Quincy High School in 1965. He
enlisted the Marine Corps in
1966.
He attended The
Defense Language
Institute and Language School in
Monterey, California and was sent
to Vietnam on March 26,1967 assigned to 2/9
H&S Company north of DaNang
as an interpreter. In April he was assigned
to Fox Company and was
located in the Quang Tri Area. He was
killed by mortar fire near
Con Thien on July 5th, 1967 while attempting
to rescue several wound
Marines.
